However, the most popular drumming product right now would have to be Drumeo Edge. Drumeo offers an online course boasting over 100 hours of content and over 40 different instructors to help you achieve your goals. Sounds great right?

How Does Drumeo Edge Work?

Drumeo Edge is more of a membership to a website than a physical product. The course offers an impressive amount of content, which is well organized and laid-out, and will take you a very long time to complete in its entirety.

Users log in through the website and then can choose any lesson from the database. Once you land on a topic you’re interested in, you can watch all of the videos in that particular series, download the sheet music, or listen to the mp3’s.

You are also granted the ability to comment directly in the lesson section if you have any questions or require more explanation on a particular video.

The Edge membership also includes access to weekly live lessons that you can attend and comment on in real-time, an archive of all of their previous live lessons, a large amount of drum play along tracks, a database of written grooves and exercises, and metronomes for practice.

Who Are The Teachers?

Probably one of the most attractive things about Drumeo Edge is the access they offer to exclusive lessons from some amazing teachers. Drumeo has over 40 instructors, ranging from the lesser-known, to world-class levels.

Some of their top teachers include Kenny Aronoff (Lynyrd Skynyrd), John Blackwell, Peter Erskine (Weather Report), Stanton Moore, Thomas Pridgen (Mars Volta), Dafnis Prieto, Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts), Tony Royster Jr. (Jay-Z), and Larnell Lewis of Snarky Puppy.

To get a private lesson in person with some of these players would be next to impossible, so it’s nice to see Drumeo has put in the work to get some real talent behind their lessons. Each teacher has their own set of lessons available, and their own styles of instructing, so you’d be sure to find someone that you can learn from.

 Lesson Format

Lessons are well filmed, look extremely professional, and are set in a nice studio. The format begins with the instructor showcasing their playing while utilizing the skills they will be discussing in the lesson. After that, the teacher will usually explain the concepts to be discussed and will begin to go over the exercises.

There will also be some sheet music below the video aiding you through the reading process should you choose to follow along. Lessons can range from 5 minutes to 90 minutes, and can cover nearly every topic a drummer would ever need to know.

Is Drumeo Edge Worth Trying Out?

In short, most definitely. There are certainly other online products that you may wish to review for yourself, but in the end I’m almost sure you’ll end up with Drumeo Edge.

Considering the average cost of a 30 minute, in person lesson would run you around $30/week, dropping $29.95/month is a not too bad. Of course, you can pay their annual subscription of $197 and save 45%.

If you don’t wish to join right away, they also offer a free 30-day trial. So go ahead, and give it a go. We’re sure you’ll learn something.

  1. Jared has been doing great things online, defiantly one of the top dog for online drum educators. My favorite is the guest lessons!

  2. David Smithsays:

Drumeo Edge is MORE than worth it. I’ve played drums for over 30 years and when I say “I learned more in 30 days with Drumeo than 30 years with private instruction” I am dead serious! The courses, the teachers, and the community cannot be beat. You are not treated like a number, you are treated like student and a person. They stay in touch with you and keep you motivated, and it has the most supportive community and forums you can find. Everyone helps each other. From the beginners to the pros, everyone helps. If you are serious about learning the art of drums, Drumeo is a no-brainer. (I am not a paid spokesman for Drumeo, I am merely a very satisfied customer and student)

these guys have helped me alot and i watch their videos regularly but youve got to consider that for 30 dollars a month you can get a private teacher and with the economy the way it is. they are competitive. for that price he comes to me. the problem with online is you can simply be practicing the technique over and over the wrong way and not know it without a teacher there to watch you then youll just be solidifying bad technique

  4. chuck thomassays:

I haven’t experienced the monthly lessons, but I DID purchase som training materials to let students view. I received a call at work from Jared Falk thanking me and generally finding out who I am and what I do with drums-I was really surprised to chat with the guy for awhile-extremely nice and honestly interested in how I would use the material. Who else gives that kind of attention and customer service?! I was very impressed!

  5. Matt Hennensays:

Great variety and seemingly endless material. I agree with an earlier comment that technique must be learned from a private instructor. However, once you’ve got solid technique, this is the BEST way to learn different styles, songs fills, rudiments or just about anything else.

  6. Kirk Peterssays:

Abundant content, great Instructors, and do it from home at your pace and time of your choice.Do I think it’s worth it?Worth every penny!!!!!!

  7. I haven’t tried it but I’ve looked it up on multiple websites and I’ve seen people who have it and it looks great

    • I haven’t bought their product but I am a fan of their youtube for sure, those guys seem to really care, that’s something I never found growing up and now I’m old!

Hi there, just became aware of your blog through Google, and found that it’s truly informative. Im gonna watch out for brussels. I will appreciate if you continue this in future. Many people will be benefited from your writing. Cheers! eddadddeddeggaga

  9. Alberto Lealsays:

It’s not worth one cent. I don’t see the logic in paying money for what essentially YouTube videos on stuff you can find pretty much everywhere else for free. One would have to be pretty gullible to spend $30.00 a month for some videos. The internet is a vast system and full of alternatives that are available without having to use a credit card.

  10. Alagbala Faith Ifesays:

As a girl who is willing to learn how to drum, definitely in no doubt drumeo EDGE is the best.

  11. Alagbala Faith Ifesays:

Drumeo has been helpful to me.:-)

    I love drumeo,:-| as a beginner

  13. Dalesays:

Hi, I might join and have a few questions. Actually 2 and a quarter note gets one beat.
In the pros you mentioned a responsive support team. Could you please explain what that is and who they are?
And a 2. The free 30 day trial. Is it free after I agree to a subscription or is it now subtracted from the yearly fee?
I tried clicking on the links that were highlighted but they didn’t work.

Hope to hear from you soon

    Dale
